SPEAKeasy Performers’ Group
Sunday 13th April, 2-5pm
What It Is.
The SPEAKeasy Performers’ Group meets every two months, alternating with the READeasy Writers’ Group, at the Forest Café. It’s a group for writers of every kind from all levels of experience to practise performing their work aloud to a supportive group of peers. We take poets, story-writers, novelists, playwrights, experimenters and everything else, and we don’t care whether you’ve never performed before or have been doing it for years. It is a special (and free) opportunity to get feedback, to experience new writing, and to practise performing your work aloud.
How We Work.
- Every month a group of writers meets in a cosy café to perform their work. Each member emails in advance to sign up (so it’s a different group every time), brings a piece of writing with them, and on the day we take turns performing our work aloud and giving feedback.
- To attend for a session, just drop us an email at email@example.com in advance of the next date.
- Come along on the night, and we will listen to each performance and chat about it. (Let us know if you’re not going to be able to attend, so that we can make your space available to someone else.) Bring wine! Bring words! Bring a notepad! Bring your wonderful mind!
- The discussion is really informal, so don’t feel you have to be an authority on performance criticism, or, well, on anything.
