Open Mic 7 October with Leo Glaister

Open Mic - 7 OctInky Fingers Open Mic
October 7th, 8pm
Forest Café, Lauriston Place
Free!

As always, the Open Mic is on during the first tuesday of the month between 8-11 pm. It’s free to come and free for anyone to perform, regardless of style, experience, or identity.

We want to hear from YOU. We want your poems, your rants, your ballads, your short stories, your diaries, your experimental texts, your heart, your mind, your body. We want the essay on your summer holidays you wrote when you were four, your adolescent haiku, and extracts from your eventually-to-be-completed epic fantasy quadrilogy. We want to hear your best new work as well. And we want people to care about the way words are performed.

We are very excited to announce that this month’s feature is brilliant spoken word poet and performance artist Leo Glaister. In his own words

“Do not trust Leo Glaister. He is a liar and a thief and he’d sell you out at the first whiff of a quick buck or free meal. In spite of what he will tell you, Leo Glaister is not:

An advanced artificial intelligence construct
A plant
A tour guide
A  cruise missile
Too cool for school
A time traveler
Rich
He is, however, quite entertaining (from time to time). Feel free to enjoy his performance; just keep all your personal belongings close to you.”

Open Mic slots are five minutes long; e-mail inkyfingersedinburgh@gmail.com to sign up and be sure of a slot. Get there for 7.30 and have a chat with the people at the café to find the Inky organisers. We’ll see  you there!
