Inky Fingers Open Mic
Tuesday 5th May, 8pm
Forest Café, Lauriston Place
The Inky Fingers Open Mic is back once again! On the first Tuesday of the month between 8-11 pm, it’s free to come and free for anyone to perform, regardless of style, experience, or identity.
We want to hear from YOU. We want your poems, your rants, your ballads, your short stories, your diaries, your experimental texts, your heart, your mind, your body. We want the essay on your summer holidays you wrote when you were four, your adolescent haiku, and extracts from your eventually-to-be-completed epic fantasy quadrilogy. We want to hear your best new work as well. And we want people to care about the way words are performed.
We are very excited to announce that this month’s feature is Andrew Blair.
Andrew Blair is a freelance liar, writer/performer and Godfather of Edinburgh poetry. He invented the night. A founder member of Chutney Exhibition – the group behind projects as diverse as Titanic 2: Pig in the City, and Poets Against Humanity – he is working on taking absolutely nothing (and therefore everything) seriously, as well as the destruction of all art. Andrew is a Virgo.
Open Mic slots are five minutes long; e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up and be sure of a slot. Get there for 7.30 and have a chat with the people at the café to find the Inky organisers. We’ll see you there!
