Inky Fingers Open Mic
Tuesday 2nd June, 8pm
Forest Café, Lauriston Place
The Inky Fingers Open Mic is back once again! On the first Tuesday of the month between 8-11 pm, it’s free to come and free for anyone to perform, regardless of style, experience, or identity.
We want to hear from YOU. We want your poems, your rants, your ballads, your short stories, your diaries, your experimental texts, your heart, your mind, your body. We want the essay on your summer holidays you wrote when you were four, your adolescent haiku, and extracts from your eventually-to-be-completed epic fantasy quadrilogy. We want to hear your best new work as well. And we want people to care about the way words are performed.
We are very excited to announce that this month’s feature is Theresa Muñoz.
Theresa Muñoz was born in Vancouver to Filipino parents and now makes her home in Edinburgh. Her work has appeared in Best Scottish Poems, Poetry Review and Be The First To Like This: New Scottish Poetry, which was titled after one of her works. She has published one pamphlet, Close and has recently completed her first full collection, Settle. She has a PhD in Scottish Literature from the University of Glasgow and writes for the Herald and the Scottish Review of Books.
Open Mic slots are five minutes long; e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up and be sure of a slot. Get there for 7.30 and have a chat with the people at the café to find the Inky organisers. We’ll see you there!
