Open Mic 1st December with Iona Lee

Open Mic Iona Lee Dec 2015

Inky Fingers Open Mic

Tuesday 1st December, 8pm
Forest Café, Lauriston Place

The Inky Fingers Open Mic is back once again! On the first Tuesday of the month between 8-11 pm, it’s free to come and free for anyone to perform, regardless of style, experience, or identity.

We want to hear from YOU. We want your poems, your rants, your ballads, your short stories, your diaries, your experimental texts, your heart, your mind, your body. We want the essay on your summer holidays you wrote when you were four, your adolescent haiku, and extracts from your eventually-to-be-completed epic fantasy quadrilogy. We want to hear your best new work as well. And we want people to care about the way words are performed.

We are very excited to announce that this month’s feature is Iona Lee.

Iona first performed her poetry at Inky Fingers two years ago, perhaps as a means of distracting from her status as an underage drinker. The drinking is now legal, but the poetry has continued. Now a student at the Glasgow School of Art, Iona’s writing indulges in that awkward period between adolescence and adulthood, utilising heartfelt and authentic personal experience, and observations of the life and lives all around her.
Open Mic slots are five minutes long; e-mail to sign up and be sure of a slot. Get there for 7.30 and have a chat with the people at the café to find the Inky organisers. We’ll see you there!
