Details for Competitors

We’ll be running in three rounds:

Heats – 14 poets – 2.5 mins per poet – judged by 5 randomly selected audience judges
Semis – 4 poets (2 head-to-head pairs) – 3 mins per poet – judged by the whole audience
Final – 2 poets head-to-head – 3.5 mins per poet – judged by the whole audience

Along with the audience-judged champion, we’ll have special prizes awarded by a panel for “funniest poem”, “loveliest poem”, “poem most likely to incite an uprising”, and a range of other categories made up without warning.

Props, costumes, &c. all permitted (but not necessarily recommended); all poetry must be original work.

The most important rules will be: have fun, be kind, and don’t take it seriously.
